FUNNY BUNNY FACTS

Bunnies don’t have the ability to vomit. That is why it’s important that we are careful what we feed them. Poor little bunnies.

Bunnies eat their poop! Their food is hard to digest. So, they have to eat it twice. Rabbits have 2 types of poop: hard dry pellet and a soft black ball. The bunny will eat the soft one again, so that their tummy can extract nutrients out of the food.

A bunny’s teeth never stop growing. They have 28 of them in total. Luckily, they’re kept short by the chewing they do. They chew about 120 times a minute!

Rabbits only sweat on the pads of their feet.

A mother rabbit gives birth to about 4 to 12 babies at one time. Based on how quickly rabbits can have baby bunnies, in one year a single mom can produce as many as 800 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren!

Perhaps the weirdest bunny in the world is the Amami rabbit. It is only found in southern Japan. It’s an ancient rabbit with small eyes, short legs, small ears, and big claws for climbing. It’s sometimes referred to as a “living fossil”.

Since rabbits sleep mostly during the day, for safety, they have adapted to sleep with their eyes open. This way it’s hard to tell when they are actually taking a nap. The trick to telling if they are sleeping is their nose.  Their noses stops wiggling when they nap.

Bunnies “binky” when they’re super-happy.  What does it look like?  They jump around all over the place really really really fast and crazy.  Click here to take a look.
